Cool ideaWhat a great idea. It really is a former jail, and they've kept the theme going. While the amenities are rather nicer than they were, I'm sure, for prisoners, it is still fairly simple. Given the thickness of walls, wifi can't gt through most of the building. The beds were a little less comfortable than I'd like, but for a night or two it is no problem and worth the novelty of the experience.

Night in a CellWeird but wonderful experience spending the night in a cell is a strange experience and you get exactly what it says. The breakfast was really nice and the whole stay was nice. I wouldnt want to spend more than one night here but the experience is what you go for.

ExcellentStayed 2 nights in one of the converted cells, which was great. Ideal location behind Rathaus, very clean and comfortable, with great choice of breakfast. Extremely professional staff. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend and to re-visit.

Very nice, but basic place. Whimsical.Very unique location. It's not often that you get to stay in a prison cell -- though, I am sure it was a bit more comfortable that what the prisoners had. I only met one member of the staff and he was extremely friendly. The room was clean to a T. The breakfast was well provisioned. Based on that I selected that I was traveling for work, I was under the impression that I would have internet capabilities in my room, but unfortunately that was not the case. In the cell rooms, there is no separation between the bathroom and sleeping area. I will not divulge the results, but warn you, stay away from TexMex when you're staying at this hotel.

3 night business tripTucked away on a side street. Youll miss the driveway the first time. 3 night stay in Junior Suite. Staff was great. Very friendly and helpful. Also English speaking which was good for me :-) Room had open sitting/ bedroom area with separate bathroom inside suite. Room was a good size and very clean. Alcove from entry had open clothes closet and full length mirror. Hangers provided but no drawer storage. Comfortable room temperature only initial setting adjustment needed. Water pressure was great, in fact recommend turning on shower slowly! Hair dryer and some toiletries provided. Location of TV in room was inconvenient. Not for watching but for passing from sitting area to bed/ bathroom. There was not enough space without physical adjusting the TV each time or playing limbo to go by it. No iron in room. Front desk can provide but have to improvise ironing board. WiFi is only available in the lobby but cell signal was good in room so no issue for me. The view from my room was nice. A popular shopping/business area is a 5 minute walk and has numerous restaurants and coffee shops. I did not eat in the Japanese restaurant inside the hotel but chose to eat at St Martens in the business area. Delicious food! I understand the hotel at some point in history was a prison. There was literature available but only in German. The lobby desk and small café were behind bars and there were pictures of the US Alcatraz prison with captions throughout. With the exception of the prison striped towels, my room did not look or feel like a prison cell but I was not looking for a prison experience. I would recommend and definitely stay again.
