  Comfortable one night stay with great lake location

  We received a very friendly and welcoming reception - including our dog! La Ripa is a little "olde worlde" but everything looks well maintained and all the facilities worked as they should. The views of the lake and islands and from the terrace restaurant are superb with no road in the way as is often the case. In fact you are protected from the slightly noisy lakeside road by the corridor outside the rooms. Secure parking just across the road is convenient and within 100 metres max you are on the lakeside promenade that gives a pleasant stroll into Baveno town. We didn't have time to sample the lake ferry trips available from there unfortunately. The half-board dinner was perfectly acceptable although not outstanding - maybe it would have been better to go a la carte - but then it would probably have been more expensive and you definitely pay for what is an excellent location.

  Un buen restaurante

  ¡Qué gran hotel llevado por una familia! Fuimos a cenar una noche mientras nos alojábamos en el Gran Hotel Dino (el peor hotel de la ciudad y sobrevalorado). La comida era excelente y el servicio excepcional. El personal nos ayudó mucho para acomodar a mi padre que está discapacitado. Ubicación y vistas únicas. La próxima vez yo también voy a quedarme en este hotel.

  Lovely family run hotel

  We had a three night stay at this hotel in June. The hotel has a beautiful location right on the lake with lovely gardens and a private beach. It is about a 10 minute walk into Baveno and the ferry terminal and a 15 minute walk to the train station.The walk into town is flat (uphill from town to the train station) in places the pavement is missing so you are walking on a busy road. The hotel is a quaint old style building and has been in the family for over 100 years. There is no lift so not suitable for those with mobility issues. Sadly as we booked late we could not get a large double lake view room, which looked lovely. We were advised that the only available room was a small double with lake view. Which we accepted. The room was very small barely big enough for a double bed, we had to take it in turns to walk around. The view was good and en suite adequate. The room was on the main road so there was quiet a lot of road noise as we needed to sleep with the window open, there is no air conditioning. You really need a larger room, on the garden side of the hotel. There is a small car park opposite the hotel so can get busy if hotel full. WiFi worked well. The restaurant is very nice, offering a four course evening menu which was good value for money. Drinks and wine were reasonably priced in the hotel. It was pleasant to take an aperitif in the garden before dinner. Breakfast was very nice. All staff were pleasant and helpful.

  Quiet family-run hotel with an amazing view

  What a find! This hotel is convenient to visit the Borromean islands, quiet, and witn a great peivate beach. The view from the room was incredible. The owner and manager was extremely nice, and upgraded us to a lakeview room with a balcony - which was amazing. We really enjoyed sitting on the blacony in the sun. The rooms are modern and large, and the bed very comfy. We slept very well, as the place is quiet, despite being quite old.

  Just wonderful!

  We last visited La Ripa over 30 years ago and had lovely memories and wondered if it had changed. Well, apart from some excellent improvements to the rooms, everything else is as magical as we remembered. Still in the same family and run with care and love, it has a superb lakeside setting and ideally placed for exploring the surroundings. Would highly recommend.
