UniqueExcellent local food, meticulously presented. If you are in luck with the weather you can eat on the covered terrace surrounded by flowers and shrubs and just down from the sun-trap swimming pool. We were in an apartment room with plenty space and facilities. The retro furnishing is part of the charm of the place. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming, and ready with a lot of advice about walking and other things to do in this beautiful little-known corner of Tuscany. From Marradi station you can get to Florence, Ravenna and Bologna by train

The accommodation let it down. What a beautiful village Palazzuolo sul Senio is!! Ercole is an excellent host and always on hand to help. Our evening meals were enjoyable and varied, everything homemade with local ingredients. Breakfast wasn't particularly good though and I struggled to find anything I liked. A unreliable coffee machine meant we only got one small coffee each, despite Ercole's best efforts. I was excited to hear we had been allocated a suite, Melissa, very characterful with a real fire in the sitting room but it was all so dimly lit and almost depressing. I wondered if the rooms in the hotel itself were better but my fellow walkers weren't enthusiastic. I appreciate that this is an old property, it has thick walls and small windows but internal lighting could be improved, as could the decor. It would be wrong to be totally negative about this hotel, we really enjoyed the walks in the area and the dinners, it really depends on your expectations.

Great welcome, wonderful food, comfortable roomErcole's welcome is wonderful. We had a room on the 2nd floor, which was large and comfortable. the food, cooked by his wife, is beautiful. Be prepared to eat a lot, though they are very flexible Ercole had suggestions for days out, as well.

Perfect place in a perfect locationI stayed there for 4 days with my wife. We decided to take some days off away from the crowd and we did the right choice. This is a 3 star hotel but Ercole (the owner) makes the difference: hotel rooms are new and very confortable and clean. Swimming pool is good enough the spend some hours after hiking on the hills. Food: excellent! We stayed there all nights for dinner. This place is in a small village on th halfway from Bologna and Firenze. Whatever you need, just ask to Ercole. He makes everything diffent and perfect. Strongly recommended.
