  Nice Option for Gander

  I had a very pleasant one-night stay here. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly. For some reason, they couldnt find my booking.com reservation, but gave me a room for less instead. That was a nice surprise. There is a restaurant in-house if you dont want to go out for food. Were I to stay in Gander again, Id be happy to stay here again.

  Comfortable and Good Location

  Good location off of the highway on our road trip. Hotel has a restaurant as well as several option close by. We were staying there during a tournament weekend, the hotel was full of kids, their noise and activity didnt disturb us in our room.

  Flight delay detour

  Ended up here because my flight was turned around while over the Atlantic for an emergency landing. The room was a welcome respite from the airport. It was quaint and comfortable. The super star was the restaurant. I had a great lunch and dinner. Stephanie and Emily were my servers. They were kind, friendly and happy to help out all while being swamped due to a large amount of unexpected guests. Maple salmon. Pan fried cod and pancakes. Coconut cream pie. Thank you, as well to Audry for checking us in. Well done, Albatross! You make Gander very very proud!

  Please, please, please update the rooms!

  I don't even know where to start with this review. We visited this hotel when our daughters had a sporting event in Gander for the weekend of nov 1-3. Pros: staff are lovely. I never ate at the restaurant but heard the food was good. They made an attempt to update the main lobby area. Beds were also pretty comfortable. Cons: this hotel needs serious updating! Its like being transported back to the 80's in terms of decor. There was an actual 1980's base heater in the room. Wallpaper was old and tacky with it peeling in places. Rooms are tiny. Our room was on level 1. Assumed this would mean we were on the main floor....nope! We were actually below ground. The window to the room was near the ceiling. Ofcourse this meant the room was damp and cold. There was also a slight hint of cigarette smoke and I wonder if level 1 used to be the smoking rooms once upon a time. The ceiling had water damage and was poorly fixed. The worst?....dried blood behind the bathroom door. Its all you looked at when you had to use the washroom. Sorry albotross...i have no idea how you have a 3.5 star rating or why you have never choosen to update your rooms. Please do better. I will definitely be staying elsewhere next time.

  Pleasantly Surprised!

  From the outside, the location seems tired. It was my only option on a wknd where everything else was booked. As I entered, I felt comfy and the staff was helpful. Room was well appointed and comfy as well. Cleaning staff great as well and had everything I needed. Would definitely return!
