  A long stay resident on business

  After a stay of 7 weeks the hotel became a home away from home. The rooms are a little tired, but clean and have all the emenities you need, including a selection of cable channels on the TV. The staff are fantastic, friendly and always there to help. Being remote the selection of beer and wines are limited, but the limited selection is of good quality. you want be disappointed with the food in the restaurant either, great steaks.

  A Pleasant Surprise

  On our trip to the remote areas of Cape York, the Albatross Bay Resort was a pleasant surprise on arrival at Weipa. Rooms were nice and well appointed and the restaurant and staff provided nice meals. While a little out of town , it was just a flat 15 minute walk away. One of the better places to stay in Cape York.

  Clean Comfortable, Best Shower Ever

  Recently stayed here Aug 2019. Stayed in a hotel room ( other accommodation available is in Dongas - demountable rooms - which I understand are quite comfortable too). Room was very good size - may have originally had a queen bed and a single bed however now just the queen-size bed so lots of room. Tea coffee plus microwave and fridge, two arm chairs and two dining chairs with small table. Room aircon worked well. Bed was very comfortable as were the pillows . Room fully tiled so no carpets. Good size bathroom with the best water pressure I have ever had in a shower... seriously great. Room was clean and toweling in good condition. Towels, hand towel and floor mat - no face washers. Iron and board provided - wardrobe had shelves and hanging space. Room and bathroom very clean. Bed linen changed every 4th day, towels daily. Staff all very friendly and accommodating. Breakfasts were a good size and value for money - just be aware though - when they say finishes at 9am they don't mean 9.01am.!! Dinner in the restaurant was good with prices from around the $28 - $38 as the average cost for a main. The seafood risoto was very nice - but disappointing to learn none of the seafood is local. The Sports Bar do specials (Sun, Mon , Wed, Fri) or $15 - Chicken Parmi, Steak egg and chips, Roast of the day, fish and chips, (one of these on each night) and these are substantial meals - can recommend this outlet. Nice water views from bar and restaurant. Kids playground area but no pool. Wifi available free of charge but has limited range - I got wifi from my room and main restaurant however not in the bar area a few meters from the restaurant and a friend staying in the dongas had to come to the reception area to get wifi. You are given a code which has 24 hr limit or 500mg which ever runs out first. This changes daily so have to get a new code from reception when the current one runs out or expires. Free parking, guest laundry $4 for wash and $4 for driers - detergent available at reception $1 per capsual. (1 per wash). There is a barbeque area if you want to use it rather than restaurant meals set up near the laundry. There are pokies attached to the Sports Bar if you want a flutter. Currently also have Trivia night on a Wednesday in the sports bar also. NOTE - Weipa has limited connectivity .. generally if you dont have a Telstra account you will NOT have communication. I use Vodafone and had nothing..!! relied on htel wifi for internet communication.

  Food fantastic, rooms crap

  The bed was the most uncomfortable ever. Seriously in need of an upgrade. The rooms so tired and desperate for upgrade. Way too expensive for what you get. The restaurant food was fantastic. Dinner with 4 and all happy with their meals. Service though, all round poor from FOH to Reception. Very unfortunate as could be an exceptional place.

  Food review! Chicken wings

  probably the worst wing I have ever paid for. DRY DRY DRY. These were cooked hours maybe days earlier and heated up to order....... no even a fresh lathering of aioli could resuscitate these bad boys! Cooks, not chefs!
