  A day in Kota Bharu

  Kota Bharu is very unique and traditional and relaxed city in the North East of Malaysia. I use it always as a hub for a day or two before going to Perhentians or to travel elsewhere in Malaysia. This year I picked a stay in a new place named Al-Aidid Homestay. I booked online and contacted them a day before via SMS just to notify them that I will be arriving. I did not need to pay in advance and that was a plus too. Place was very easy to find as we arrived with the BUS from the Thai border. It is just around 100m from the main bus station. A young girl (owner's daughter) introduced us with the apartment. She was very good in English and very kind soul. Homestay is located in the multi apartment building which was just opened and there is not so much tenants in the building. Building have also a lift so dont worry if your back pack is heavy. Room has a lot of space and it was of modern design. It has a big clean bathroom, small kitchen, fridge, LCD TV and two beds. Actually stay was better than being in 4* hotels. And price was super convenient. It was also no problem to check out in the afternoon when we had our BUS for Perhentians. I would definitely recommend this place here as you are staying in the centre of Kota Bharu and still enjoy peace and quiet. The only missing was lack of internet and Wi-Fi. But I do not mind about that as I can get in Malaysia very cheap and fast.

  Perfect location

  The accommodation is actually a studio apartment, not a homestay. It's location is perfect (where the old market used to be for those who remember), right in the city centre and within walking distance to many places - Pasar Besar Siti Khatijah, Bazaar Buluh Kubu, Tambatan D'Raja, and the open air eating stalls (night time) near Jalan Pintu Pong. The bus and taxi terminals, shopping centres, restaurants and convenience stores are close by. Despite its location, the apartment is surprisingly quiet. Since we drove, it was very convenient that the building has free parking available in the basement for occupants. We found the studio apartment to be modern, comfortable, generally clean and spacious. Free WIFI available. Love the rain shower, but it floods the bathroom each time. Check-in was easy, the owner/host met us within minutes of calling him although we arrived late in the day. Check-out was also made easy, as there was a key drop-off box provided along the hallway near the elevators. Note that there is no elevator to the basement where the parking is (designed as such likely due to possible flooding during the monsoon season). Every Friday morning till about noon, there is a small market (food items, clothing, potted plants, knick-knack) on the street largely along Jalan Hulu Pasar next to the apartment building; so basement parking becomes scarce. All in all, a great stay!

  Highly recommended mid range stay in kb town

  Strategically located in the heart of kb town, easily accessible to all points of interest; spacious bedroom and shower room, free wifi, free parking, free njoi channels; friendly and proactive host who kept in touch with me on the day of arrival to ensure smooth check-in to the apartment. some little cons here but did not bother me much: no direct lift to the basement carpark, aircond was blowing directly onto my face when sleeping, no drinking water dispenser

  Wonderful stay for the weekend

  Locationwise is right in the city. You need to go over several one-way routes to reach this place. Free parking provided at the basement of 4 storey building. It's a studio apartment. Nice interiors with 1 queen and 1 single bedding, kitchenette with basic necessities, mini refridgerator minus stove, and microwave. Shower room and toilet is in good condition. Ample sockets and plugs. Flat screen TV comes with Astro NJOI. Aircond works brilliantly in this high temp and humid city. Ironing equipment, prayer mat and prayer clothes are provided as well. If you made a reservation via Booking.com or any other booking websites, you gotta call the PIC beforehand to get ur keys to your room and for payment. There's no receptionist. Everything you wanted you simply gotta call the PIC. The PIC's contact number will be given via email once booking is made. Invoice will be issued upon request. 5 minutes walk to Pasar Besar Siti Khadijah, Istana Jahar. 10 minutes walk to well famed Nasi Ulam Cikgu. 20 minutes drive from the airport. Great place to stay (;
