Hotel is just ok, but area is greatThis is a place for hot springs. The room is in general ok, but area is great. I had a great walking time in the morning around the area. If I come again, this won't be my first choice, but will the choice if other hotels are unavailable because it has nothing to complain. However, if I want to relax for few days and enjoying the hot spring, this area will be my top choice.

Quiet hotel in Akiu OnsenIt takes about 30-40 mins from Sendai Station by Hotel Free Shuttle Bus. Also the public bus stop is just nex to the hotel, so it's convenient even if you do not have a car. The hotel staff are very kind, I am not sure if they can speak English or not, though. I recommed to take a walk to "Rai rai kyo", it's beautiful gorge :)

Japanese Hospitality and Relaxing AmbienceThe Hotel Crescent is a mid-size resort with amazing hospitality, service, food and thermal baths. Located in a mountainous region about 30 miles from Sendai's train station, it is nonetheless easily accessible via the hotel's free shuttle, town bus or by taxi. The shuttle runs only from about 10:30am until mid afternoon, so plan on arriving early enough to catch it (30-40 ride depending on traffic), otherwise you'll need to take the bus (about 50-60 minute ride) or taxi (about 30 min ride). The taxi ride runs about 8,000JPY Dinner and breakfast were included in our rate, and we had a choice of Western or Japanese Dinner. We chose the Japanese Dinner and our table was set and ready for us at the reserved time. Our dinner consisted of a fabulous 8 or 10 courses - we lost count. The food was so fresh and tasty, the service fantastic. After dinner, we went into the communal baths - segregated by male or female. Typical Japanese baths where you scrub down, shampoo, condition and rinse off all soap in one area before entering the hot water baths, have everything you need. The water is hot and full of minerals, and it is definitely relaxing. After soaking, you can take advantage (in the women's section) of lotions, hair dryers and more. After a deep sleep, we again took advantage of the baths in the early morning, and then had a buffet breakfast. Typical Japanese breakfast as well as Western foods are offered. A great array of choices. The restaurant overlooks woods and a river that flows alongside the hotel. Very soothing view. We requested a Japanese style room - futons, comforters, tatami mats, tea table and private bath. Very comfortable. However, western style rooms are also available. Before leaving, we shopped in the well stocked souvenir shop. This property is mostly visited by Japanese clients and so although the staff is very courteous, it can be somewhat difficult to communicate in English. One exception was Mr. Sugiyama, who explained all the hotel offerings, and answered all our questions, in English. When we left, in the hotel shuttle bus, with approimately 30 other guests, the front desk staff went outside to bid us goodbye. If you want to rest and regenerate and experience superb Japanese hospitality, the Hotel Crescent is your place.
