Stayed one night with six people to celebrate a birthday. We had a great stay. Location was perfect, weather was great, facilities were clean and the pool was perfect for our group. Apartment was well set out and in a nice quiet location. Carparking was convenient and the staff were friendly and inviting. Easy to book. Will definitely stay again with lots of apartment types to fit your needs. Great job AVI.

Unit 63 beware! We did not realise, but each unit is different and unit 63 has lots of positives but has left a miserable memory for us. It needs a overhaul. Its like a cheap end motel from the 70s. I must look at a room before committing to my hard earned $230nzd before I go ahead. Big mistake. From the outside it looked lovely. And the reviews here were good. Thats why we picked this place. What a shame. Positives Great position, new kitchenette, new appliances, clean bed. Negatives Needs a overhaul Furniture and carpet needs to go to the tip Chairs tables and other stuff- to the tip Double tiny bed Bathroom wallpaper is peeling No air con We noted as we left that other units were beautiful, modern and we were so disappointed with unit 63. We did not bring this up with the manager. We just packed up and left. We dont like to make a fuss but I wanted to warn anyone intending to use unit 63 that they need to be happy with this before they agree to stay.

Some business owners rate policies ahead of service. It can cost you a lot of money to be right sometimes and in this particular case the owners rate clearly their policies above their service. Technically I cant say they did anything that wasnt in their fine print, but by being dogmatic and not even being open to discuss the matter, they have lost us as guests for ever. We will never visit this property again and I would urge anyone reading this to do the same. I cant abide business owners who dont understand the big picture and the lifetime value of their customers.

Long weekend in AkaroaWe really enjoyed staying at the Akaroa Village Inn again last week Perfect location for attending the Akaroa Cook School next door. My 95 year old friend loved our ground floor unit. So spacious and sunny. We plan to return.

Special weekend, not so specialI was taking a long commemorative weekend in Akaroa and booked online at the property, which was much more expensive than others, but I wanted to make it a special time. Positive: Staff all very friendly / property clean / location excellent (close to activities) / walking distance to shops, cafes & restaurants / great ice cream shop at reception. Not so good - the room I was initially put in had no heating/aircon - just very large fans, which were ineffective and noisy. I was moved for the first 2 nights, but needed to move back for the last night. Unfortunately, after being out I got back and the room was unbearable (it is the Turret Room). There were no other rooms available, so as it was so oppressive I left. I have been unable to get any refund - just an offer of discount on any future booking (there will be none). This has soured my weekend - I expect a level of comfort, especially when paying the higher rates - so disappointing. Their descriptions are not really that accurate, which is a shame, as the people working there are actually very friendly. In the current times, places like Akaroa keep asking for support to their tourism, this kind of thing does nothing to encourage us to spend our hard earned money there. The service from staff very good, the actual rooms, not great value. And to top it off when you arrive there may be additional charges to use the pool per day. Other reviews are similar, so perhaps the owners of the rooms need to look at what is important to them - profit or service (leading to recommendation).
