  In love with China

  I visited Dalian correctly known as the city of romance to attend an International Workshop. It is a popular destination among tourists. It has mild climate and multiple beaches. It is located in the centre of the Dalians Zhonsang Square. The hotel AIR CHINA is awesome and had incredible services. The staff was curtieous, humble and cooperative. Air China has its own restaurant and they serve excellent food. The location of the hotel is very good the view from the hotel room was very scenic. Overall its a nice experience and best value for money. My best wishes to the hotel management and the staff

  Typical dirty, smoky local China standard hotel

  Wow, I have to say I was surprised to see so many positive reviews of this hotel. I travel frequently throughout China, and I would rate this hotel at below average. My room smells like an ashtray, the floors and furniture are filthy, and the room is in a general state of disrepair. Before checking in, I asked for a smoke-free room; however, they were all full. Perhaps those rooms are remodeled and cleaner. The towels are also dirty. I hope I don't come down with a rash by staying the evening here! Suffice it to say, this will likely be the last time I ever stay here.

  not so good

  I was there in the year 2009. the hotel rooms are okay but the service is terrible . I was there for almost 8 days . the first night I asked for a fork from room service and was transferred to atleast 5 people yet it didn't come !! major language problem they don't speak English . the breakfast was typically what they eat in china I guess which I just couldn't eat except for bread slices, no continental food .... I literally starved there !!!!

  This hotel isn't fancy. It's not a luxury hotel. But it's also incredibly cheap and in a great location. For the price it's a great deal. Think I paid about 200 rmb online. Bathroom has a real shower. Bed is good enough. Has a good TV. Staff online speaks Chinese so be aware of that. But really nothing to complain about. It's connected to a Lawson's convenience store which is also great.

  You Really Can Do Much Better Than This!

  I was booked into this hotel in April 2017 by a Chinese organization on whose behalf I was visiting Dalian. While the location of this hotel is very central and near lots of transit, the hotel is old and run down. The lobby seems to be a mixture of a number of businesses. Staff only speak Mandarin and seemed surprised to have a Western guest. My room was on the 15th floor but I could only find one small elevator for the entire hotel. After passing through a dingy hallway on my floor, I arrived at my door which (after unlocking) I had to force open as the door had swollen to become too big for the frame. When closed, though, the door did not close tightly and did not seem secure. The room itself was very interesting - but not in a good way. I was greeted by a musty smell that reminded me of mould. I tried turning on the fan system to air the room out but could not find a way of doing that without also getting a blast of heat. The bed felt like a box spring with no mattress. Around the tired and stained room were a number of opportunities to spend money by opening packages or using products. The most interesting items were a rack next to the bed containing a variety of condom boxes (in various quantities) and, in the bathroom, amongst many other things, a package containing a new pair of ladies cotton underwear. (Having such products for sale right in the room made me wonder if guests regularly engaged in commercial transactions there rather than being normal travellers!) The flat screen TV received about 20 channels, all in Chinese. The WiFi worked reasonably well, though - which was a great relief as I was able to make alternate arrangements for after that first night. Finally, there was a breakfast included in the price of my room. However, after seeing the old-looking breakfast room and military-style attendants, I decided to give it a pass. (I understand that all of the breakfast items available would only suit someone who was accustomed to a Chinese-style breakfast.) I left after that first night. If you are interested in seeing what living in China may have been like during the Mao-era, this may be the hotel for you. Otherwise, according to TripAdvisor, at the time of my writing of this review, there are over 400 hotels in Dalian that are more highly rated. I think that you could really do much better without spending any more money.
