  Nice staff and food, great views, but terribly rundown

  This place looks like nothing has been done to it since it was built 25 years ago! Including the pool filter! The setting is amazing and its such a shame, as the buildings would have been something else in its day. The food was very nice and the staff seem to be trying to be positive.

  Needs some attention

  The hotel is at a perfect location and can only be reached by boat. It takes approximately 20 minutes to reach the hotel. Some steep steps need to be taken to reach reception, where there is no service to carry your luggage up the stairs. You are welcomed with a fresh juice and check in is smooth and quick. The hotel rooms are longhouse style and i believe in total there are 11 blocks. The longhouse has a broad entrance hall which is open so animals will be there as well and leave their droppings which are not cleaned very well. Our room was comfortable with air-condition and a large bathroom, there is mold which can easily be removed. There is a nice restaurant area and the food selection is big, unfortunately while we were there a lot of items where not available, which is not really a problem but it would help to know this upfront, the menu of drinks looked very dirty and this can be easily fixed. We also were given the bill for dinner while we were still enjoying our main course, not very polite. On the other day we went to the pool and ask for towels at the reception as we were told to do and there were none but they would bring them, when the lady arrived with the towels she called out so i could come and collect them. There were many more small thing. We had a nice stay but we do believe the management has to make some changes to have the hotel up to standard as it should as the potential is there.

  The place not worth of effort

  It takes almost 5 hours one way to get there by car including on a dusty dusty no fun road for almost 3-3,5 hours due to road construction. Consider another 0,5 hour boat travel with light lugguage only (boat service is available every hour). Quiet but nothing special place except the wooden longhouse itself. Nothing superior inside unless hotel management consider serious investment into the house maintenance inside and outside. Eatch out for rotten handrails on the terraces to prevent the incident falling down Medioce restaurant, better to start asking what they really got available than studying the menu to discover most of things anyhow arent available.

  A different place to stay

  We enjoyed everything about this quirky longhouse hotel. It isn't a 5* hotel and is fairly unsophisticated but it had everything you need and it was different. Our ceiling fan didn't work but the aircon did so no big deal. We enjoyed the food and the swimming pool is lovely. We had a wonderful day at the Iban longhouse where we were made very welcome - and it was good fun. But - no fault of the hotel - the access is very bad at the moment and we had a 2 night stay which used up 3 days of our holiday. Outward was ok as we visited things on the way, but going back was a long and tedious journey. On balance we were glad we'd done the trip but whilst the road construction continues it might almost be worth having 3 nights there to justify the journey.

  Amazing views

  Attended for one night only after staying at the Iban Longhouse. To be wary there is a number of stairs up to the resort but to be expected due to location. Lovely large pool although did notice some exposed wiring in the baby pool from the light fitting. Rooms are of good size with hot showers and good aircon. Lovely views from a balcony opposite the room. Staff ste very friendly and attentive. Food very good and nice touch with the bbq for dinner and fresh made egg station to your specification. Overall very tranquil and relaxing just what is required to unwind with a nice boat ride over.
