Room has not been touched since the 80sNice lobby but dont expect much once you passed that. Everything about the hotel from the rooms, the spa, to the services are all time trapped in the 80s. Service was incredibly Japanese style inflexibility, they even refused to give me vinegar for my salad without some bargaining, until I told them it was ridiculous for them to tell me a restaurant doesnt have vinegar. Remind me of the days when Japanese restaurants refused to even put dressing or sauce on the side. But fortunately most Japanese has moved on and adapt to a more global society. Breakfast buffet was average but the salad was actually surprisingly fresh and tasty.

My husband and I visted in March and the weather wasn't so cold but cool enough to wear jackets and proper boots.Everything in the the room was fabulous!! We went to the inhouse spa/jacuzzi and steam baths ourselves and they were nice. Beauty of this was not many people around. My husb and I were able to soak in the jacuzzis for 30 min before taking a local bath. It was nice.

Very nice hotelStayed here a few nights, using it primarily as a base from which to explore Kyushu by day.I was very pleased to book here and then became a bit worried by some of the online reviews, including here. I needn't have worried however, as everything from the room to the service to the facilities were very good value for this price range. A number of the staff admittedly don't have a strong command of English, so perhaps travellers expecting a Western chain hotel experience shouldn't look to stay here. But with patience and even a small amount of Japanese, everything goes smoothly. There is certainly no shortage of good will on the part of the staff. The real treat however was the room itself. I took a Japanese-style room on the second floor and found it extremely comfortable - very quiet, tasteful and indeed the sort of place to which I looked forward returning to in the evening. I slept more soundly here than at many far more expensive hotels I have stayed in. Apart from that the ambience at the hotel is relaxed, with many guests opting to wear the provided pyjamas in public areas, in ryokan fashion. The public bath was clean, well-appointed and enjoyable, as was the spa. For those staying here, note that it is a bit out of the way, and that taxis should be ordered in advance if you are looking to catch a cab. If, as I did, you take some day trips by train, the walk to Hakata Station is a very doable 60 minutes or so, and indeed I quite enjoyed the trek through the city as it was waking up.

Nice hotel with a spectacular view of FukuokaMy wife and I self drove and spent 2 nights in this hotel at Fukuoka. It is an exclusive and commanding spot overseeing Fukuoka. It is spectacular during the day and at night when the city lights are turned on. Car parking for hotel guest is free. The counter staff are expatraiate and also local Japanese. Staff are helpful. There may be a recent renovation of this hotel. The front lobby and dining facilities are very good. There are about 50 guest rooms on 1,2,3 and 6/F. 5/F is the dining facilities and we took excellent breakfast both Western and Japanese cuisine available. The room we had on 6/F has an excellent view of the city. The beds are extremely comfortable and the showers facilities are very good. The carpet needs replacing although they must have been put in recently. The onsen is average according to my onsen loving wife. She prefers the shower in the hotel room.
