In Leipzig for a conferenceI spent four nights at the Hotel Adler whilst in town for a conference. I didn't have any issues checking in, despite my late arrival (23:00). My room was on the 4th floor; unfortunately the elevator only serves up to the 3rd floor, so it was a flight of stairs to my room. The room was a bit disappointing unfortunately. It had a slight smell of cigarette smoke, which was disappointing given that it is advertised as non-smoking rooms. There was even an ashtray on the desk! I was a bit too tired to make a fuss about the room given it was so late when I checked in. My sheets also had some visible holes in them. It is very close to the Sellerhausen S-Bahn station, but unfortunately services are not particularly frequent, so I found myself walking about 3-4 minutes to the nearest tram station. The room insulation wasn't ideal, so despite it being a quiet neighbourhood you can hear the trains passing nearby. Breakfast was standard German style, with breads, cold cuts and cheese on offer, with boiled/scrambled eggs, cereals, yoghurts and fruit also available. The dining room is situated in the basement and only available for breakfast as far as I could tell. I chose this hotel because it was a fairly budget option and offered breakfast as standard, which was quite helpful given that there wasn't many places to eat nearby. It's not one of the best hotels I've stayed in, but in terms of value, I can't fault it too much.

Downright terrible!Where to start? They don't abide by safety regulations. The emergency plan shows you where the staircase is but nothing beyond that in regard to exits and assembly points. The fire extinguisher instructions were facing the floor, being placed below the extinguisher itself. The fire extinguishers were supposed to be checked in 2016!!! That's really appaling! The breakfast 'buffet' is minimalistic, the staff is not wearing any uniforms, changes and seemed to have trouble with English speaking guests, this also goes for the reception where I had to assist friends at all times as the receptionist was clearly not very fluent in it. Last but not least regarding the buffet, the coffee is more water than powder and one morning the scrambled eggs looked like such a health hazard that we stayed clear of them. As for the reception, it wasn't manned most of the time, so we had to inform other guests who wanted to check in. We could at times not hand in our keys, as each room only had one, although I overheard that a couple had received a second key but had to pay 100 euros deposit. The keys themselves all looked different, some only being marked with edding and it seemed as if someone had just grabbed random keychains at a secondhand market... We had questions regarding one booking and were repeatedly told to come back at half past 12 to talk to the boss, which wasn't possible as we had activities planned at all times during the day. The change in said reservation had been done via phone as two emails to the hotel had got lost and in the end, two rooms had been 151 per person for three days and this room was 348 plus an additional 150 because of a second guest in a double room, which didn't seem appropriate by any means. The rooms were the health hazard if you are alleegic to dust! I couldn't stop sneezing in ours and was always glad to get out of there. The cleaning is very superficial! Regarding amenities, yes there is a safe but it costs 1 euro per day and a 20 euro deposit, which I find ridiculous. The mirror light in a room was broken, pointed out to the reception, they promised to fix it, but nothing happened within the four days. The door of the shower in another fell apart whenever you just tried to open it and a third room was always filled with humidity as there was no ventilation for the bathroom at all. As for parking, they claim to have 'parking' but what they actually mean is 'park in the street', so it is falsely advertised. This was the worst stay I ever had in Germany and it does not deserve three stars, especially as the German standards are usually very high.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!Worse service ever, never been treated this bad with no respect and I stay at world wide hotels every week due to my work. Im sure theyve not learned the sentense The costumer has always right in their home country! Absolutly discusting behavier from the front desk. Arrived to the hotel after been driven 11 hours from Sweden, tired and hungry I had my booking number/confirmation in my hand when they right away said they didnt have my booking. I showed them once again my reservation and that Expedia had charged me for the room + the sentense on the confirmation that said your booking is confirmed, theres nothing more to do then arrive. Welcome!. Well you havent payed us, you have payed them was the answer from the man. He told ME to call the German Expedia (its HIS JOB in HIS LANGUAGE!!) but at this time they were closed for the night (arrived at 19.30...), then he just said ironic well you have to stay in the car then until tomorrow when theyve opened. We cant help you. If you please move now, there is other customers behind you. I was in shock and just like; are you kidding me?! Im 24 years old and two old (one was the boss he called himself) men was laughing to my face and looked down on me while I was crying of frustration! After 20 min in front of them I ironically got an email from Expedia to review my check in, I thought it was so funny - showed them but he was just shook his shoulders and kept saying we dont have your reservation, may you please move now. They spoke to each other in Arabic or something and was laughing to each other. I thought it was a joke. I argued with them for 30 min, but they just said it was not their problem. Things ended with THAT I LEFT, without one single apology, and had to call my mom from the car to book a new room THREE times the money 30 min away. I would never recommend anyone to go there! Never felt so offended and helpless before.

Nothing to write home aboutThis is a very low budget and low quality hotel in the outskirts of Leipzig. At the End of the Eisenbahnstrasse known as a social hot spot. The surrounding is very dark and run down, better has never been rebuilt after the wall came down. The hotel is very dated and not in a good shape. It displays the charm of the old GDR. My room and bathroom where clean but no amenities whatsoever. Thin bed cover, one pillow and a not so comfy bed. The service was friendly and they try their best. Breakfast available and sort of ok, coffee did not taste good. I would not stay there again. They try their best but are struggling. Tram in short walking distance is a plus. If the pictures would have been from today, I would not have booked there.

Terrible!!! Dirty!!! Dont Go!!!We stay there last night. Short brake for 1 night to rest to finish our trip today. I been traveling to Germany for 15 Years and never have so bad experience like yesterday. No car park. We need to live our car somewhere one the street side and bring our all staff inside cos the place looks not save at all. We been charge full amount on the arrival. Strange but ok. After I notice why. I thing people was refused to pay. Old-dirty Hotel. Our bathroom was discussing! I was worried to bath our children. I dont thing any one one have give them good clean for long time. Breakfast-terrible,cheap low quality food and plates nearly empty at 9am. Never Again. Dont go there- put another 10-20 on top but stay in clean and save place.
