Wonderful hotelWe enjoyed this hotel from the moment we arrived ! We were greeted with warmth, comfort and generosity, and soon felt at home with the people and the place. The hotel generously lent out maps, hiking equipped, bus cards and invitation to join guided mountain walking that found place almost every day. They also gave advice and helped us when we walked through beautiful landscape to another hotel where we stayed for a night, and they took care of our luggage while we were there. This hotel is wonderful and can be warmly recommended. Here you can enjoy the nice people, the clean rooms, the spa, pool, sauna, gym, the delicious 4-5 course dinners, the terrace and the marvelous landscape .

Wonderful service and opportunities for outdoor stuffThis is the third time we've stayed here, and it is as good as ever. The staff are exceptional and the food is copious. The kitchen makes a real effort to cater for vegetarian guests (though at the end of a week we're getting a bit tired of the limited range). The restrictive firewall is also a nuisance, but given that the first time we came there was no wifi at all, I'm grateful for what there is. The hotel offers local Tyrolean hospitality and taste in its entertainment, and Gerti and Franz still run excellent walks programmes every weekday.

Walking hotel with a star! Excellent base for hiking, great food. The Achentalerhof is one of those typical Austrian/German hotels, but then with a couple of stars. The Waldhart family run it to perfection, together with a team of dedicated staff. They are a specialized walking/hiking hotel, normally offering guided trips on a tri-weekly basis. No, it's not the Intercontinental. And yes, I am a very spoiled business traveller. But I like it so much because it's personal. They know your name, they know how you like my coffees or the wine you drink at dinner. They offer tailor-made if you want it so and they will do almost anything to make your stay a happy one. Rooms are not extremely luxurious, but spotless and comfortable. New bathrooms. I had a single room which in a lot of hotels means you get the broom cupboard. Not so at the Achentaler hof, a princesslike fourposter... it might you be your own taste, but it made a lovely change. The restaurant is for hotel guests exclusively and they provide full board. Breakfast is a buffet with fruit, yoghurt & lots cereals with extras, wide choice of local breads and rolls, eggs in many styles, fruit juices etc. Dinner is serious business at the Achentaler Hof. Five courses, but all in small portions, so you can eat it and not feel overly stuffed. The chef has an excellent hand in serving traditional Austrian dishes with a modern twist. So it's not your average mountain food, but lighter, more elegant. I spent a special week, where the hotel owner, Mrs. Gerti Waldhart, took us out on daily winter hikes in the mountains, on snowshoes. She showed us the most beautiful spots, alms, Hütten and panoramic views around the Achensee. You need to be fairly fit for this, as the hikes last up to 5 hours, but what a great formula. All gear available by the hotel (shoes, walking sticks, rucksacks).By the time you get back, you can join the other guests for a Jause (afternoon snack, all included) or relax in the hotel's sauna and swimming pool. Excellent staff, friendly, will go more than the extra mile to make you happy. The only negative thing I can think of, is that is is often a little too hot in the hotel.

Amazing stayThis hotel was great! Nearly ski in/out with only a two min walk to the lift. The rooms are simple but perfectly functional for what is needed. You wont want to be in the room anyways with all the beautiful stuff around. The breakfast lunch and dinner are all amazing, they do a great job with the menu and we were not disappointed once our entire stay. Highly recommend and would stay again. Sorry only took food pictures... :) it was just so good.
