  Lulled into a false sense of security and robbed

  I'm giving a poor rating (the same as on booking.com) because of the overall impression we had upon leaving the hotel. On our first night in Dar Es Salaam, we had a traffic accident in a taxi, spent the first night in a hospital and had to spend the next 3 days until our departure in our hotel room. Not a pleasant experience in itself. The hotel manager, Eric Msundire, seemed very nice and understanding about it, he made sure our room stayed intact for the night we were in the hospital (even though we did not make it for the check-out when we had paid for only one night) and he gave us 10 % discount for our deluxe room, so that we would not need to move to a standard room. Every morning, the supervisor asked us if everything was ok. And it was, up until 2 hours prior to our departure, when we found out we were missing 300 USD (taken from a larger sum of emergency money). Now, I understand that the hotel is not liable for this and yes, even though we left the money in the room for about half an hour unattended (only once!), it was our own mistake and stupidity. However, the manager and the supervisor seemed so professional, we simply misjudged the situation by the outward appearance. What upset me the most is that Eric, once told about this problem, promised he would look into it and do what he can. There was a CCTV camera right outside our room, so looking at the recordings seemed like the easiest thing in the world to do. 10 minutes before we were to leave to the airport, Eric came to our room and explained that there is nothing he can do, because there is "his boss" - probably an owner of the hotel - whose name or phone number he cannot share. He is the one who can give him a green light to do anything and the boss himself can reveal the CCTV recordings, even though Eric was not sure whether these are even kept or not. After the nightmare of the accident, spending money for new tickets home and overall ruined holiday, we were just two more tourists who were stupid enough to get robbed. And once you leave the hotel, no one cares, of course.

  Very good value for money

  It's hard to find an affordable but valuable hotel in Dar. But this reaches high levels on both. Clean room, good bed, great breakfast, nice and helpful staff, nice bathroom, location in the middle of everything. I would really recommend this hotel for business or pleasure of you need an affordable place to stay.

  Poor!!

  The double room was very small. Breakfast was poor, hardly any variety. Wifi connection was very poor, good connection only in the restaurant on first floor. The day we reached, the ground floor lift door was not working so had to lift the bags to mezzanine floor and took lift from there. No power backup. The staff were not friendly too. Curtains dirty. The location is good in the main market and a KFC is located nearby.

  It's confortable

  The rooms were good and the reception too. It has a good location, close to the centre, easy to go around the city. All likely good. At the restaurant, I've ordered fish soup, which was tasty but not well cooked. I believe the restaurant is the main thing to get better.

  nothing interesting.

  My room was on top floor, had toilet leaks not enough water to shower, dirty rooms, dead cockroaches lying under bed, shower stalls behind the curtain, TV not working at all bed linen not changed. One of the worst experiences. Dining Room dirty. Kitchen with roaches UUUGH.
