My 2 night stay 31 Jul 19 - 1 Aug 19Stayed in Room 1, a double ensuite at the front of the property. A very clean, well decorated and comfortable room that has its own access door off the landing on the first floor. The ensuite is on the smallish side but it fitted the bill perfectly for me.On arrival at breakfast, I was warmly greeted by William who made me feel very welcome from the off. The breakfast was delicious and more than enough to keep me going throughout the day. The rear of the property looks over the cricket ground and if you do not have a room at the back, take the stairs up from the first landing and the window there gives a perfect view of the ground, thanks to William for pointing this out to me. I will definitely be returning to this property when I next visit Scarborough during the Open Air Theatre season, great hosts, delicious food and very good value for money. Highly recommended!!

Would not return : (One word Filthy. We had room on top floor overlooking the main street frontage (room 6). Upon entering the premises through the front gate we could tell instantly what we were in for. The front garden was in a sorry state. What looked like a tiny ornamental pool was full of green stagnant and smelly water and front door was very dirty. Not off to a great start ! The whole premises could do with gutting, however we could forgive an old and tired property, but the cleanliness goes beyond forgiveness. Filthy - no other word for it. Thankfully the bed and bedding were reasonable - not great but OK, but the rest of the room was dire. Dirty (tiny) bathroom, dirty carpet, old rickety furniture. Dirt everywhere - stains on the walls, skirting boards you could grow potatoes on. Shower cubicle dirty. Curtains that would not block out any light, towels that were so worn you could practically see through them - one the size of a hand towel basically. Thank god we only had 1 night in this property. The breakfast was terrible - plentiful, but terrible - gave most of mine to my hubby (he has a cast iron stomach and was hungry). Bland tasteless cheap ingredients (no doubt from the local Lidl or Aldi), the bacon and black pudding did not taste right to me (gone off). Toast you could snap in half it was that stale. We were glad to leave. £85 for 1 nights accommodation in the most dirtiest B&B I have ever been in. The couple who run it are nice enough but they really need to get on top of the filth. Perhaps other rooms were better, but I cant imagine it. The dining room was dark and dingy and filthy. Employ a cleaner if you dont have one and if you do then sack him or her. It could be a lovely B&B if cared for. Sorry but would never recommend. If you like your filth and dont mind paying over odds for it then its the place for you. The least a paying customer can expect is for room to be clean - ours was anything but. We left way before check out time - could not wait to go home and shower. I left some important paperwork in one of the drawers (such was my rush to leave), it was returned to me but only once I had sent an SAE - bit naff really. Great customer service - NOT. I could go on and on about the laughable amenities, but no point - it was all quite horrible really.

Fantastic locationI stayed here at the weekend with my daughter and dog and we were put up in room 5. The room is a good size with ensuite and a fantastic view over the cricket ground that is next door. Dog couldn't go in the dining room which was sad but as it was a lovely morning we had breakfast outside and the owner brought it all out for us and gave the dog a sausage which was a nice touch. At the end of the road you can turn left and head to the north shore attractions in about 10 mins or go right and be in central Scarborough in 5 mins and the beach in 10. Really enjoyed our stay here

Needs updatingThis was the only place available last minute so decided to go for it. Fantastic location just 5 minute walk across the road and youre on the seafront. The owners are also very lovely. Regarding the guest house I would say it needs a very very deep clean and some general maintenance instead of covering over things and new bed linen and towels, things that can be done at a small cost and make a big difference. Unfortunately I did not sleep well as I knew the bedding wasnt clean and the room held a lot of condensation. This place could be turned around one room at a time and be great. Unfortunately I dont think I would return. If you do happen to stay here then dont park your car by the trees in the square as youll be paying for a car wash on the way home.
