  BEAUTIFUL SPOT

  We found this Hotel to be extremely comfortable, friendly and spotlessly clean. The rooms are spacious and have a small fridge and a microwave. All of the staff were helpful and pleasant. The location is perfect for visiting all Woodstock has to offer. We thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor firepit as we star gazed in the evening. Hearing the River added to the relaxation. The grounds impeccable and a nice spacious area to have our dog romp and get her exercise. The pool is gorgeous, and the breakfast was a great treat. The choices were ample, and the lovely woman who served it up was fantastic. It was an exceptional experience all around and we look forward to returning.

  Beautiful!!!

  My husband and I just stayed here over the weekend and LOVED it! The rooms were beautifully decorated and extremely clean! We loved the rocking chairs on the balcony overlooking the river. The entire place was impeccable and we loved the decor throughout. You can definitely tell the owner is an interior designer, every touch this place is top notch. The bistro and breakfast area, just beautiful!! We couldn't get over it! Breakfast was wonderful and the lady who served it was so sweet. We also loved the fire pit and smores at night. Even though the leaves were completely bare, it was still so lovely and nice to sit by the river and listen to the water...very peaceful. I definitely recommend this hotel! The town of Woodstock is less than 5 minutes away, really cute town with lots of nice shops and restaurants. I already want to go back back next year and hopefully catch the fall foliage. We will definitely be staying here again! :)

  Thanksgiving Stay

  Our inability to host our normal large gathering for Thanksgiving, prompted us to decide to spend it in Vermont (I had always dreamed of spending it in a New England venue). The 506 On The River Inn was absolutely perfect in every way, and they have nailed the pandemic protocol. Your room is disinfected and sanitized. Everything was spotless. Once you check in, there is no daily housekeeping service to prevent unnecessary exposure. We found that they had planned our stay perfectly with plenty of towels and other amenities. The room has a small fridge and microwave, which was great for heating up our Thanksgiving leftovers. The breakfast that is included with your room rate is a nice mix of fresh fruit, juice, yogurt, eggs, French toast, bacon, sausage and pastries. The ladies who serve breakfast are absolutely lovely, and the room where you can sit and eat if you prefer not to take out, is very effectively socially distanced - tables spread very far apart. The grounds surrounding the hotel are lovely, even in winter! We travel to Woodstock usually every year, and we will definitely stay here again.

  Great hotel to visit Woodstock or go skiing

  The inn is located next to Woodstock's farmers market and a few minutes away from the town center. It's also a 15 minute drive to the Killington ski resort. We stayed in a two bedroom apartment in a separate building, everything was great and we particularly enjoyed the large indoor pool and the beautifully decorated bistro.

  A perfect gateway to Killington in the winter

  Pre-COVID-19, We stayed at On the River for a brief weekend of skiing as an alternative to staying up in the Killington village or slope-side on the mountain. We were incredibly surprised at both the comfort and the beauty of this hotel and would absolutely recommend it to any family or friends looking to stay in the area. The room we stayed in was perfectly clean, wonderful and warm in the late winter. We gave the pool and hot tub a try before calling it a night and were glad of the quality of those as well (albeit the building is a bit older and some of the light fixtures and things seemed a bit dated or had gone out altogether). After a good night's sleep, we did indulge in the breakfast buffet and were very surprised at the variety and quality of the food! The staff was super friendly and the dining room, beautiful in all ways VT. Last but not least, the Inn is 17 minutes away from the Skyeship Base Lodge for access to Killington Mountain. After breakfast we left to go skiing, got a primo parking spot and spent the rest of the day on the mountain. Skyeship does also have a ski-out opportunity to the base lodge (instead of having to ride the gondola down), which is a bit boring at times and can be a bit marginal, but we decided to take that anyway. Skiing nearly to our car was a treat and had us home and warm in a matter of minutes. Thanks to all at the 506!
