  Metung Accommodation Views

  Apartments right at the beach front with views across the bay. Two bedroom units have lots of room. Nice & clean and well appointed. Air-Con works well also. Tech a bit dated but useable. Ideal location for Metung shops as just a minute up the road. Parking inside unit complex.

  Oh dear!

  We stayed in Apartment 4 at 5 Knots, Metung for the weekend. We are 2 single mums who got the chance to escape the kids (and Melbourne) for the weekend. We nearly didn't stay here because the price was quite high, but it was such a special excuse, we bit the bullet and took off! We were so excited only to be disappointed once we got there. We were horrified that as we had booked for 2, it was ASSUMED we were a couple! Only the upstairs bedroom and bathroom were made up. We contacted the owner who then sent a cleaner over to make up the 2nd bedroom, which had been locked! Also locked was the downstairs bathroom which we also had to ask to be unlocked. After the cleaner left, we discovered that the bathroom wasn't even CLEAN. There was soap scum on the shower glass, dirt on the floor, and dirt on the vanity. Seriously, if you're going to charge those prices, you would expect to use the whole apartment. To lock up a downstairs toilet on you is totally bizarre. Won't be returning.

  Fawlty Towers

  This was our first trip to Metung, and we were so looking forward to the break after lockdown in Melbourne. The photos for apartment 4 depicted an apartment by the jetty, with Lake King at the back, but we were so disappointed to discover our apartment was at the back of the complex. The downstairs bedroom and bathroom were LOCKED when we entered, even though we booked and paid for 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It was ässumed" "that we were a couple. When a cleaner made up the downstairs bedroom and unlocked the bathroom, we found these rooms had not been cleaned. There was cobwebs with dead flies in the bedroom, and dirt, sand and soap scum in the bathroom. Even the clock on the wall in the living room had stopped. There was one tiny couch in the living area, and when we questioned the owner, she stated that there were two stools for extra seating (heaven forbid there were 4 people staying). We had to bring in a couple of outdoor chairs, one to sit on and one as a footstool (not very comfy). The 3 balconies with "north and south aspects to enjoy the views of Metung morning and afternoon" was over Lake King (south) and the rooftops and carpark of the complex (north). We couldn't get the television to work with "no connection" on the screen. There was no instructions on how to use the television, and no on-site manager to contact. It is a lovely well-appointed apartment internally, including quality toiletries and linen. The apartment definitely did not live up to the price. Very disappointing. I will be seeking a part-refund.

  Australia Day long weekend with the family

  The Penthouse with its excellent facilities including sauna and jacuzzi, magnificent location and exhilarating views of the lake with the marina practically at our doorstep was the perfect getaway for me and the whole family. Cafes and restaurants were just two minutes walk from the penthouse. My two grandchildren just loved swimming, paddle boating and collecting fresh mussels on the beach just across the road from the Penthouse. Mel and Vivian Calderon

  improvements needed

  Metung is a beautiful spot on the Gippsland Lakes and well worth a visit. We chose this place mainly because of its proximity to the water and the view and it did not disappoint in that regard. What did let it down was the cleanliness and the furnishings in the apartment. The place had been cleaned but there was an old tissue on the floor under the sideboard and spiders in the spa which is not a good look when you are paying the sort of money they are charging to stay here. The furniture is cheap and mean - the only couch is a 1.5 seater which is ridiculous and impossible for 2 people to sit on. The outdoor furniture on the balcony consists of 2 bar stools which are very uncomfortable to sit on after a while. For those wanting to sit out on the balcony with a glass of something and enjoy the water views for more than half an hour, perhaps a small café table and 2 chairs would not go amiss. All in all this is a well positioned property that is spoilt by scrimping on furnishings and maintenance.
