  Ideal for us!

  We stayed 6 nights at 181 The Esplanade towards the end of November and loved being there. We were in room 28 which we found spacious, containing all one can reasonably hope for in such accommodation - and more - and which had fantastic views across the sea, as well as of the mountains/hills to the rear. The room was quiet, too. Glen, in Reception, looked after us superbly - nothing was too much trouble for him, and he was generous with his time in suggesting trip possibilities to us, and then booking some when we had chosen. The information book in our room was really helpful. Both it, and Glen, recommended the Bay Leaf Balinese restaurant at which we had a marvellous last night meal. The accommodation was ideally situated, we felt, with the lovely, always-something-to-see promenade walk right outfront, and plenty of shops, restaurants and shops within a twenty minute stroll. We enjoyed our stay enormously. Thank you.

  Fantastic Accomodation

  Room 32 on 8th floor, 2 bdm apartment, Views over water and boardwalk gardens facing airport. Very spacious with everything you need. washer, dryer, dishwasher, airconditioning, 2 bathrooms, one with tub spa. Downstairs is pool, spa and sauna. Will be back

  Nice place to cool off

  It is an open pool opened for everyone from early in the morning till late in the evening. There are also some pilates classes a couple days of the week right next to the pool, as well as some other sport. In my opinion this is a totally highlight in Cairns and a must do attraction when in Cairns. It contains a shower area with toilets etc. I suggest bringing a good mood and a high SPF Factor with you! Enjoy it!

  A fantastic 2 bedroom apartment with amazing views and excellent service in apartment.34

  We stayed in apartment number 34 on the 8th floor facing the sea and we booked with Booking.com. The apartment is beautifully decorated with comfortable lounge chairs, comfortable beds, a good size balcony with a good outdoor setting. The kitchen is a good size with electric hot plate, oven, quality crockery and cutlery and supplied with a coffee machine, kettle, toaster, pots and pans, cooking utensils, glad wrap, backing paper, aluminium foil etc. There is a dishwasher with plenty of dishwashing powder supplied. Linen is supplied with large soft towels, bath mats, hand towels, face washers and tea towels. There is also a laundry with a washing machine and dryer with washing powder supplied. The lounge area has a large flat screen TV with Foxtel and you can sit on the couch and look through the floor to ceiling glass windows and door over the balcony to the sea. The dining area has a large timber table with large windows overlooking the sea. The apartment has ducted air-conditioning to the living area and also the bedrooms. There are also ceiling fans in the lounge area and the bedrooms. The master bedroom is spacious with a queen size bed, a balcony, walk in robe and ensuite bathroom with a large spa bath with a shower over the top of it. The 2nd bedroom is spacious with 2 single beds and a large wardrobe and windows overlooking the sea. The 2nd bathroom is spacious with a good size walk in shower with good water pressure and exhaust system. There is a swimming pool and outdoor spa in this apartment complex which we used and enjoyed. The apartment supplies pool towels. There is an underground secured carpark below the building which you enter from Lake Street behind the apartment building. If you order any food to be delivered it is best to tell the supplier to come to the back door of the apartment block off Lake Street as there is a small parking area there. The view from this apartment on the 8th floor is amazing as you can see across the park to the sea with cruise ships coming and going and also other boats. The park below is busy with people walking, playing with their dogs, exercising etc. The centre of Cairns with many restaurants, bars and the famous Esplanade Lagoon, which is a public swimming pool beside the sea and free to use, is a 1.5km walk from the apartment. The apartment block is next door to Cairns Hospital and we did not have any trouble with noise from the hospital. The service provided by the company that manage the apartment, Belle Property Escapes Cairns, was excellent with them answering my questions quickly and supplying me with information to make our trip to Cairns enjoyable. Thank you Corinne for all the help you gave us during our stay. I highly recommend this apartment for a lovely holiday in Cairns and we are eager to return to this apartment for another wonderful holiday.

  Disappointing and failed to match pictures

  We booked a unit with upper level water views and were given no.32. First impressions were very favourable of good views and facilities. However on closer inspection things were not in very good condition with chips in the tiles and grout missing in the bathrooms. One of the rubbish bins lids would not close and both bins were extremely rusty. they looked awful! The clothes airing rack was rusty and 1 wire rung was broken and sticking out. I could not get WiFi and after a bit of discussion we then were told it had been cut off and we were to join the unit below WiFi. Come night time and the real problems started. There are 3 extractor vents in both bathrooms and laundry room and they were extremely noisy to the point where we could not sleep. We spoke to management who said they could not be turned off, try shutting doors, the higher in building you go the noisier they are. By the 5th day I wanted to move out and it was then that they offered us a different apartment. They moved us down to unit 5 which was blissfully quiet. We do not feel that this came close to our expectations on what was a quite pricey unit. You need more than water views to justify price. Management were approachable but these problems should never be allowed to have manifested to this degree . Overall Location was central, beautiful views but needs an overhaul on every aspect of decor/fittings to bring it back to an acceptable standard for the price paid.
