Worst Place EverI stayed here in #167 for 2 weeks in January and based on the cost and on-line photos expected a good experience. This was truly one of the worst (if not the worst) places I have ever stayed in. The property grounds are not eye-appealing, but inside it was really bad. The first thing we noticed was how dark it was inside. Probably 50% of the lights did not work, and the ones that did were extremely low watt bulbs. Don't know if it was broken fixtures or just burned out bulbs. The curtains were tied back in knots and looked like they came from Goodwill. The appliances, with the exception of the refrigerator, were really old and need to be replaced. All the paint was chipped off the inside of the dishwasher, and we didn't trust it to get the dishes clean. The front panel on the stacked washer and dryer kept falling off so we finally took it off and propped it against a wall. The shower head was absolutely awful!! The pool is teeny tiny and was right outside our door. It was too cold to be outside, but if it had been warmer, guests would practically have been in our bedroom. We never could get the hot tub to work. Internet only worked in one room and was very sporadic. Another reviewer mentioned that the full price had to be paid months in advance and had to be via check. I still can't believe the exorbitant price we paid for this dump. We left 2 days early (even though it meant paying for 2 days we did not use), because it was raining and we couldn't stand the thought of staying inside that dreary, outdated, eyesore of a condo. I don't see how there could be any good reviews unless the owner had a friend or family member submit one. Stay away!!

Look before you leapThe photos and descriptions on the Web site did not much the unit we got. The photos were of a unit that may be the owner 165, ours was 166 across the street, not luxurious as described. Dark, peeling paint, no tv in second BB just bare cord, other TV hung on LR wall with dangling cord. Average quality towels. Heard from owner only one time via telephone, not seen in 2 weeks. Could walk to dog friendly beach. Other places nearby nicer landscaping and looked more appealing. We were glad to depart.

We came back and will again! This was our 2nd year of spending a most relaxing and enjoyable time at #1 Island Hideaway. Our host/owner, Rhonda, was again very helpful and a wealth of information concerning the area. Walking on the nearby beach, relaxing by the pool or soaking in the hot tub made for a therapeutic and fantastic week. We cannot recommend the place and the hostess highly emough. We've already booked next year!

DISAPPOINTING AND EXPENSIVEThe building looked much better in the pics and the inside was more like a dated camp than a luxurious island retreat. The furnishings and dish ware were of goodwill quality. the cookie sheet was terribly rusted and soiled. i am sure glad i brought foil with me. the floors were mostly concrete with a poor stain job. the sliding glass door to the pool took two hands and a lot of muscle just to get it open. The pool and spa were both dirty and the spa ad to be turned on, which the acting manager did. The owner was away at the time,. It takes four hours for the spa to be ready for use. The cob webs abd spider webs were everywhere and they had te nerve to charge us a cleaning fee of $125. We were there three nights and the cost was $594. At $200 a night, we could have done much better with room service, breakfast and been right on the beach We were almost two blocks from the beach and had to cross a very busy main road to get to it. the dishwasher was all chipped up inside and should have been replaced long ago. The refridgerator was alright but rocked like a cradle when you opened the door. It certainly needed to at least be leveled. The poor maintainance or total lack of maintainance was evident throughout the unit. A lot of the drop ceilng tiles had holes and cracks in them. The lighting was a challenge. Some worked, some did not - very dark and dreary. I washed the pillowcases , only to see the nasty soiled pillows that were inside of them - ugh ! I didn't wash the sheets because I didn't want to see what condition the mattress was in. The sower was riverstone on the bottom and extremely rough on the feet. the shower riser was capped off with putty around it and the shower head was juryrigged to come out of the middle of the ceiling. very tacky ! The cheap , old iron towel rack in the bathroom was barely hanging on the wall with three screws in the sheetrock.- really ???. never did see a hair dryer so I am glad I brought my own. If you are looking for a nice vacation spot, you would be better off avoiding this place. There are much better places at much better prices in the area.

A resort that lives up to its name!#1 Island Hideaway was everything we could have asked for: lovely accommodations, pool, beach, quiet yet close to downtown. Our hostess,Rhonda could not have been more gracious. WE WILL DEFINITELY RETURN!!
